A Vintage Jean Varon Rare Empire Maxi Dress Art Deco Lady Print Fabric UK 6

A spectacular late 60s early 70s maxi dress with an amazing Art Deco Lady print fabric by Jean Varon.

About Jean Varon

Designer John Bates began designing under the name Jean Varon in 1959

Bates' work as Jean Varon in the 1960s was particularly modernistic. He designed dresses for Diana Rigg as Emma Peel in the Avengers and was championed Marit Allen the editor of British Vogues' Young Ideas spread.

The Dress

The dress itself has the most wonderful fabric print. Such as statement with its art deco print.

It is in subtle beiges, creams and browns and had loose capped sleeves and an empire line to flatter the chest.

There is a contrasting black and white piping to the sleeves, collar and empire line and the closure is 2 original silver buttons.

The front has its original zip (hidden) and there is oodles of fabric to the skirt.

It is unlined to allow freedom of flow but there are 2 pockets to each side of the skirt.

Size - The original size label is a UK 10

But with today's sizing this equates to a UK 6

There is very little give to the fabric so please do read the measurements carefully. I've measured the Empire line rather than hips as the piping is inflexible whereas the hip material is fluid.
