The Franklin Mint Classic American Cars of the Fifties
For sale here are my treasured collection of used Americana models. There are
17 in total and are stunning in every detail.
I spent approx £1300.00 for these (in excess of £2000 in todays money)
including the 3 display units from 1987 until the company closed and prob and
£3-4k on other models from them!
Will consider a "sensible" offer - not an insulting one!
The company Franklin Mint launched a project scale models 1:43 in 1987, issued
the first series of twelve classic American cars of the Fifties. I have 4 of
them.
1987 original issue models
* 1953 Packard Caribbean Convertible Lilac (1987 issue)
* 1956 Ford Thunderbird Convertible Turquoise (1987 issue)
* 1956 Lincoln Continental MK II (1987 issue)
* 1957 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible (1987 issue)
Project Classic Cars of the Fifties was supported by massive advertising in
magazines. The models were sold by subscription system. Customers who ordered
the entire series was awarded as a bonus the 50s-styled display shelf crafted
of hard wood and customized reference binder. Original price of each model
Franklin Mint 1 / 43 was £50.00 in 1987 (£150 in todays money).
The later series models are much heavier and with much, much more detail and
cost £75.00 each.

The fourth model is highest quality workmanship. The already outstanding
workmanship Franklin Mint 1:43 models were brought to absolute perfection that
time and applicable technologies.

to N.Ireland Buyers about p&p - since Brexit many Courier companies
are now illegally profiteering by charging excessive p&p rates to
NI as they are classing it as a foreign countery that now requires
export documention! How is that when we are all still part of the UK???
As an example in April 2021 a 1kg box to from UK Mainland to UK Mainland
with £40 insurance through Hermes cost just under £6.00. The same
package going to NI they now quote £15.00!!!! and Parcel Force was
£24.00!!. I eventually got it for £8.50 from P2G. So please be aware that the p&p rate I quout on this
listing is for UK-UK Mainland p&p only and also only carries £20.00
insurance - if you require more cover ask for a quote BEFORE bidding.
