This is a true GPS unit like car head units. It requires at outdoor to get lock on at max 8~12 satellites signals. Unlike iPhone AGPS which uses cellphone tower to triangulate location which might be inaccurate within the city streets.

The software can work with any GPS all iPhone offers. Originally was running on Tom Tom and navigon but both navigation software had been discontinued. You can run Nokia, Waze, Google map or Apple map too! The GPS chip on this unit is app agnostic.
