Who are we?

Founded in 2016, The Speaker Port is a small, independently owned and operated business based in the suburbs of Chicago, IL. I started with repairing and restoring vintage audio speakers and stereo systems. Within the first year, I took on both home and professional grade systems (PA systems, guitar amps, etc.). I work on all component types (receivers, turntables, tape decks, power amps, etc.), and all makes and models. I hold a degree in Electrical Engineering, but spent the better part of my 22 year professional career in Information Technology. Through it all was a deep love for music and music reproduction. More recently, I have established relationships with a number of music stores and studios, servicing their units, as well as third party customer equipment. I've also developed my own line of hard-to-find, vintage part reproductions using 3D CAD design and printing technology. As The Speaker Port continues to grow, I look forward to being able to provide top shelf customer services as well as products to go with it.

Pricing

We are a business, and we work very hard to ensure that each unit or product we sell is ready for a new owner and able to last. Our prices will likely be a bit higher than some of what you may see from other sellers or websites. Our pricing reflects the cost of the unit, the cost of parts required, and the amount of labor required to service the unit. Typically our products also come with a warranty, and if so, it will be stated in the listing. As we price each unit, we also have to take into consideration the fees that eBay takes from each sale. As we grow, we are slowly introducing a store on our website to cut the cost of these fees.

Shipping

All paid for items will typically ship within one to two (1-2) business days, however, it could be up to five (5) business days in the event of unforeseen circumstances or anything else that prevents us from getting it out in our typical 1-2 day time frame.
All items we charge shipping costs are priced accordingly based on the actual shipping cost, materials required to ensure the item is safe during transit, and the fact that eBay charges additional shipping fees as well. We do not profit from the shipping costs that we charge, nor will we ever.
Any units offering free shipping are chosen to ease the cost of our customers when and where we are able to. We still have to pay for shipping, even though we are not charging for it.
Unless otherwise specified in the listing, we do not ensure any item in transit (beyond whatever the shipping provides as a default, if any), nor do we add additional coverage or features, such as a signature requirement. If you would like an item shipped with any additional coverage or features, there will be an additional cost associated with them. Please message us with your requests, preferable before ordering, and we will do our best to fulfill them.
If a listing offered to ship internationally, it will be enabled in the listing via the eBay Global Shipping Program. Note: we do not have any control over what eBay GS charges for international shipping. Their cost is typically higher but due to buyer fraud problems, we have had little choice but to go this route to ensure less issues regarding users not receiving their items.

Warranty and/or product guarantee

Unless specifically stated in each individual listing, there is no warranty or guarantee of any kind with the item you are buying. Please consider this before buying, especially, but not limited to, used items considered AS-IS, as those particular items have possibly not been tested, serviced, and the prior use to the unit is unknown.
Any used, refurbished, or restored items are tested and verified to be in working condition prior to listing or selling. Any issues or problems will be clearly stated in each listing and/or shown in the pictures. There will not be descriptions of each issue that may exist, so please read and look closely.
Any statements made about things like sound, picture quality, or value are completely subjective and the opinion of The Speaker port and in no way represent a guarantee or statement of fact.
Any new 3rd party products that are still sealed in the original OEM packaging are assumed to be in perfect, brand new, working condition. We will not open these products to test them or evaluate their contents for any reason. The Speaker Port assumes no responsibility for the operational condition of such items and are offered "as-is".

Fraud Protection

Unfortunately, fraud and attempts at stolen products have happened numerous times, as we're sure it does for many others. As a result, The Speaker Port has had to make some tough choices regarding how we do business online. The eBay Global Shipping is one of them, which ensures customers receive their items. The cheaper international shipping services have a lack of proper end-to-end tracking, so this was not working. We have also implemented photo documentation and UV tagging (marking) products in various ways to prevent 'bait and switch' situations, or from anyone intending on harvesting internal parts to then claim the product is non-functional and send it back for a refund.

Many things can happen during the preparation of an item for shipment. In these extremely rare circumstance (where we have no spares to replace it with), we will offer you a comparable replacement or refund you your purchase (at your choice).
We reserve the right to cancel any bids from users with zero (or negative feedback rating) at our discretion.
