From an paragraph in Margaret Hofer's book "The games we played"

"In Pillow Dex, a precursor of "Table Tennis" players volley a balloon over a string stretched across a parlor table. The idea being to keep the balloon from landing on your side of the table. If you can make it land on your opponents side 10 times you win the game. Pillow Dex was one of the most heavily advertised games of the period."

The 2-part box is very good - no broken corners.

This game has the following:

3 wood blocks with a string through them to provide a dividing line on the table
1 paper envelope in which the balloons were kept

The envelope indicates there was a mouthpiece to help blow up the balloon, but that is long gone.
The balloon had no way of surviving over 100 years - all that is left are a few crumbs in the envelope.
The directions are printed on the underside of the box lid.

The directions indicate you can send 25 cents to Parker Brothers for 6 brand new balloons.... don't count on it!
