Interesting & collectable early Scottish medal dated 1877. The medal is made from sterling silver although, due to its age, it is not hallmarked.

The front of the medal has been engraved with the Scottish Lion Rampant on the raised central roundel. The obverse is engraved:

"HARBURN E.L.R.R. CLUB Robt. Taylor. 6th Octr. 1877"

Note: I believe the medal relates to cycling & the initials may stand for the Harburn East Lothian Road Riding Club but I cannot be sure. Please do your own research.

Weight: 5.6 gm. Width: 23 mm. Height (excluding ring): 25 mm. Tests as sterling silver although not hallmarked.

Harburn: Small village in Lothian, Scotland situated 2 miles south east of West Calder & north of the Pentland Hills.

Summary: As can be seen from the photos this is an interesting & collectable medal, worthy of further research. Good luck!
