The Pioneer SE-405 feature 45mm 8Ω polyester cone speakers, with a volume control on each ear cup.
If
you're in the market for a pair of these, I recommend checking for the
following issues; none of which are present in this pair:
- Are the volume and/or tone controls scratchy or have dead spots?
- Are any knobs missing?
- Is the headband stretched out?
- Is the foam over the speaker grilles missing or decaying?
- Are the cushions cracking or is the foam inside flat?
- Have the cushions been replaced with cheap generic vinyl items? (The originals are leather.)
- Is the plug bent or plug strain relief splitting? (This is all one unit.)
I've
had several SE-series headphones and the 405s are a sweet spot in this range (great sound, on-cup volume controls yet not excessively heavy.) Please feel free to ask questions and happy bidding!
