Vintage fold-out Conoco 1934 road map of Illinois, printed more than 90 years ago.

  • This map opens to 24" x 18" and has great detail on old road alignments, including U.S. Route 66, with cartography by H.M. Gousha.


  • On the reverse side there are inset plans of Decatur, Peoria, Rockford, Springfield, and Chicago and vicinity, including Winnetka, Elmhurst, Berwyn, Cicero, Oaklawn, Argo, and Calumet City.


  • There is also a 3-panel view of the Conoco Travel Bureau branch office in downtown Chicago.


  • The map was distributed by the Continental Oil Company in 1934 and is dated by the code letter in the lower margin: H. Population data is from the 1930 census. Little triangle symbols locate Conoco gas stations.
