Kokeshi 10 / A novel kokeshi with haiku written on it

"Kokeshi" began to be sold as a souvenir to hot spring bathers in the Tohoku region after the Edo period. It is a simple wooden toy with only a head and torso, and is characterized by a size that is easy for young children to hold.
After that, it began to be sold at tourist spots all over Japan, but it declined due to the pressure of emerging toys from the Taisho era, and the number of production decreased. Although it has now become a traditional Japan craft, it is popular as a collectible item that adults collect and enjoy.

This time, I got a lot of such kokeshi.

It is a general size kokeshi with a length of 30 cm and a head circumference of 8 cm, but its original form is unique. The trunk of a tree is carved out, and a haiku and a picture of a seagull are written on it. At the end, it seems to say "beach play", and there is a picture of a seagull there, so it is probably a depiction of a summer landscape. It is a kokeshi with a gentle face with a smile and a smile.
It is presumed that the hole on the bottom was drilled to fix it when decorating, but I don't know the details.

The author's name is written on the bottom, but I don't know the details. Around the author's name, "On a school trip," "Misako," "Matsushima," and "May 1, 1965" are written in faint pencils. Fifty-nine years ago, a female student named Misako went to Matsushima in Miyagi Prefecture on a school trip and bought it as a souvenir. This kokeshi must have been cherished along with the memories of the scenic Matsushima, which has been selected as one of the three scenic spots in Japan.
