Eames Herman Miller angled rubber boot glide

4 glides offered for sale. You are purchasing FOUR glides.

Angled rubber boot glides for Eames DAX, DCM, DKX, DSS, DSX, LAX, LCM, LKX, MAX, MKX, MSX, SAX, CTM, DTM. Suitable for use on chairs and tables with solid rod legs. The angled glide was designed specifically to fit 5/8” legs. The boot itself is 9/16" id and made of black rubber so that it will grip the leg when fitted. It has a heavy gauge nickel-plated steel foot. This design pre-dates the self-levelling nylon glide.

The angled rubber boot glide is probably the most versatile glide of its type. Specified by Charles Eames and used by Herman Miller on many different chair and table bases. A well-designed product utilising the inherent elasticity of rubber, it was found to be suitable for use on furniture with legs having different angles. The flexibility of the rubber allows it to find its own level when fitted to a leg. This is not possible with plastic. The glide was hand assembled and fitted into the curled carbon steel cap without the use of adhesive. Angled boot glides were designed in a way that did not require anything to attach the metal cap foot; when fitted to the leg of a chair the leg itself forces the boot snugly into the metal cap.

For the discriminating collector wishing to retain the authenticity of their cherished modern furniture.

According to Charles Eames, “The details are details. They make the product. The connections, the connections, the connections. It will, in the end, be these details that give the product its life”
