It is 9.5" H. old and worn but absolutely beautiful. There are no chips in the wood. You can still see some of the original color from the old paint which is of course now quite faded. Originally the colors would have been bright and vibrant. This piece dates to about the mid 19th century to the 1890s. No later than that. The space on the back I believe is where it would have been originally attached with a wooden dowel to the shrine it would have originally been seated in. Unfortunately I do not have any provenance on this particular piece.
