This is an opportunity to own a nice piece of history minted between 103 and 76 BC.  This is a genuine prutah of Alexander Jannaeus, struck in bronze, and in the exact condition you see in the high resolution photographs.  This piece was struck under the authority of Alexander Jannaeus who was the second king of the Hasmonean Dynasty(son of John Hyrcanus).  He also served as high priest.  This coin features an anchor with legend on the obverse and a star on the reverse. It is known as Hendin 6195.  The Judaean coins of this era were often stuck on slightly irregular shaped flans and were struck by hand.  For reference of size, a U.S. dime is about 18mm across.  There is debate on which coin the historical "widow's mite" is.  This coin is part of the family of coins it would have been.  Grading coins is subjective. I believe this coin is CH VF / XF. Please look at the photos to make a judgement for yourself.
