The 3rd Watermark printing of the 5/- GREY&DEEPYELLOW Kangaroo was made from 1918 through to 1926. The stamps were placed on sale in April 1918. These marsupials were printed by J.B. COOKE to May 1918; then by T.S. HARRISON to February 1926, A.J. MULLETT to June 1927 and lastly by J. ASH to late 1929. These were printed off a single-frame Plate with 120-stamps on in two Panes of 60 each with 10 Horizontal Rows of 6 stamps. There were some 13 printings over the period totalling 2,672,640 stamps. They were used as 'make-up' for the higher telegram rates, parcel and the bulk postage charges of the day. These lovely Kangaroos are very sound with good perforations and very good centering (especially for "OS" stamps). The 2021 ACSC lists the 3rd Watermark 5/- "OS" at $200 each. Perhaps less for PARCEL CANCELS. Conservatively, this 'interest set' spelling "MELBOURNE" could be valued at around $500. Very much a fun offering!
