The use of resins gives the wood greater resistance to moisture, improved strength without loss of resilience, and makes it easier to polish and achieve a mirror finish. Often, the wood is stained, allowing for many colour variations; you can even find multi-coloured blocks, in which different layers of fornite are stained in different colours, and the right processing angle brings out extremely interesting patterns. Despite so many possibilities, many handles are difficult to distinguish from ordinary wood. Pakka wood is resistant to moisture, but not 100%, so even knives with a handle made of it should not be kept damp; after use, they should be washed and dried immediately. With proper care such a knife will be a lifetime purchase).

NOTE: Leather scabbards draw moisture from the air and tend to rust knives if not stored properly. When you are done using your knife, take it away from the leather scabbard and apply gun oil, "Seal 1" or similar protectant and store. Damascus, 1095HC and D2 can rust and develop stains if not lubricated.
