The pewter tag is in very nice condition. It was never used, but stored in a box in a drawer for the last 25 years or so.
The ring itself is made of a cheaper metal.

I was there, in the glory days of Blockbuster... pre-2000. News articles will tell you the glory days were in the early 2000's, but they're wrong. In the mid to late 1990's, those were the final days of our own Camelot; where there simply was "not a more congenial spot for happily-ever-aftering." I met my wife because of Blockbuster. Made life-long friends there. Many happy memories.

In those days, Blockbuster's motto was "Go Home Happy", and they meant it. Customers would come in, spend hours, hanging out, picking movies, critiquing favorites. It wasn't uncommon for whoever was there to join us after work for drinks, snacks, and more movie talk at a nearby restaurant.

In those final days, before the kingdom crumbled and the company turned on customer and employee both, there was a heart and soul that I'd never seen in any other job. When they asked for volunteers to open a new store on St. Simons, several of us volunteered to help. That's where I picked up a few of these keychains. Several of us became the core group that got the new store running.

I eventually transferred back to my home store, with many of my best friends. My only souvenir of that time in St. Simons are the keychains. A few weeks ago, I found them again. Hidden in a dark drawer, jumbled together with all the little things you don't throw away, but don't need any more. It made me sad, and miss the old days. And it's time to pass them on to someone else. Maybe someone who'll keep this one in a place of importance, in a collection to be treasured, an icon of a time that will never come again.
