Sterling silver Egyptian Ankh amulet necklace. The cross is fashioned in filigree cannetille style and set with an oval purple fluorite cabochon to centre. The pendant is suspended on a long oval cable chain.

The ankh is an ancient Egyptian symbol which symbolizes the many aspects of life, including physical life, eternal life, immortality, death, and reincarnation.

In Egyptian art, gods were sometimes portrayed touching a mortal with an ankh, symbolizing conception, or conferring the gift of life on a dead person's mummy. Its key-like shape encourages the belief that it unlocks the gates of death, and it is viewed this way by the modern Rosicrucian and other Hermetic orders. Coptic Christians have used it as a symbol of life after death.
