This is a 1937 Sinclair Oil Babe Ruth Contest baseball featuring a "secretarial signature" of Babe Ruth. The contest run by the Sinclair oil company was a weekly essay contest promoted on the company's radio program and newspaper articles. Among the prizes that were awarded was a Babe Ruth Autographed baseball, all of which have been signed by a "ghost" signer otherwise known as a Secretarial signature. There were 500 signed Official National League Ford Frick baseballs given away to the winners.

Secretarial Signature - An autograph of a celebrity that is actually done by his or her secretary, an other assistant or even a spouse. Sports celebrities are bombarded by requests for autographs. Most don't have the time to answer all of the requests, so some have their secretaries do the signatures.

This is a very nice and clean ball.  I have not seen one of these Sinclair balls in better condition.  Does not have the original box.  Ask any questions you might have.  Free shipping to the 48 states.  If you are overseas we can calculate the shipping and the buyer is responsible for that.
