These marvelous bookends were made by the Dodge Inc. Company of new York, Chicago, and Los Angelus as is impressed stamped on the back of each of the two black enamel painted bases on each of the bookends. Dodge Inc.'s founder also created the first Hollywood Oscar and the first T.V. Emmy as well. I found these bookends at a local antique store here in Minneapolis, MN where I reside and they were in rough shape. I applied a foundry bronze wax to both bookends giving them the appearance of gold wash and applied a coat of lacquer to seal the bronze wax onto the original bronze giving them a glossy look just like the day they were made by the Dodge Inc. Company. I also applied a coat of black enamel to the base on each one and they date the late 1920's and would fall in the genre Art Deco that began in the late 1920's.

Each of the two bookends measure 8" tall X 3 1/2" at their widest point near the top X 4" L X 2 1/2"  deep around the bases on both of these bookends. On each base in front is engraved into the metal some leafy foliate in the foreground, a large body of water like an ocean and a large sailing vessel or clipper ship in the background and the scene appears to be looking at it from the shoreline. The pair are in excellent condition.
