1958 SWB series 2 2 Liter early production

built August 1958, registered 1-9-58. in Taunton Somerset original transferable number. live with 4 owers around the Bristol area.

i bought it early 2020 as i total restoration project. having sat for at least 20 years out side so the bulkhead and chassis where complete rotten.

being a 2 liter series 2 its quite rare with very few surviving. many for the components are the run out from the series 1 production. its very similar, with the drive train, wiring and fuel system all would be the same.

with this in mind i ordered from Richard Chassis a new series 2 replica chassis build to 1958 spec. powder coated satin black.
the bulkhead is a New Old Stock genuine part from PA Blandards .

the original axles have been shot blasted and painted in 2k gloss black, and the swivels and brakes have been rebuild with new components. hubs and bearing still need doing. ive soured some early rear drive flanges to replace the later series 3 type.
All new Road Springs and Griling Shocks. with new shackles and bushes.

steering arms and relay have been replaced.
brake pipes are in place made from confier and the flexys have been fitted.

the body work is left in patina , as this was my intention to do a simple restoration of chassis/ transmission but leave the 70 years of history on the body. but would easly paint. the doors and lower correct type flat valance are new with a very good condition front panel which has been blasted and painted.

engine from the vehicle is seized and a factory exchange, there are some parts missing. the engine in the chassis is a 2lt with a rover 60 head and SU carb, i have drvien this engine and its pulls well. there is no engine number listed on the log book so this block is ideal with the original type head fitted from the seized engine or leave as is and benefit from the extra power from the high compression head.

the gearbox is complete and indeed of some work, ive not looked at it so its an unknown quantity

it has a new fuel tank, exhaust system, and auto sparks loom,

i have source good second hand vent flap knobs and sills.

the dash is missing the speedo and ignition switch, the warning lights are present. as is the fuel gauge and amp meter.

the pedal boxes are very rotten, and personally with replace. but come with it as does the steering box.

as with an restoration of this nature there are some parts that have let to be found and there are some items missing.

there is a current V5C in my name.
