Up for auction is a rare 8-inch vintage game fishing reel. This reel is believed to have been produced in Australia during the 1930s-1940s, although the specific maker remains unknown.
This substantial, heavy-duty reel, measuring 8 inches in diameter, shows minimal signs of fishing use and retains its natural patina. There are no cracks evident in the wood work.
The wooden back-plate has a diameter of 8 inches, and the wooden drum (spool) measures 2 1/2 inches in width. It's equipped with a heavy-duty nickel-plated brass T saddle (foot) and cross-back, with a thickness of 3/8" (9mm) (see image 3).
The mechanical order of this reel, with its minimal fishing history, appears perfect. It presents beautifully and would be an excellent. addition to any enthusiast's collection.
