I have here for sale a book entitled A NORTHERN HIGHWAY OF THE TSAR by Aubyn Trevor-Battye.  It is a first edition published by Archibald Constable & Co in 1898.  It has a fold-out map of the River System of North West Russia, a frontispiece illustration of the author, 8 other plates, and one line drawing in the text.

This book chronicles Trevor-Battye's journey through the tundras and forests of high Northern Russia. 'Travelling by one of the high northern trails is easy enough in summer, is delightful in winter, but in Rasputnya it is not easy, it is very difficult, and no one dreams of moving then. It is freezing one day and thawing the next, the ice-charged rivers are dangerous for boats, and all the land is morass and swamp . But an Englishman is proverbially obstinate; and through these swamps I was pushing inch by inch by various shifts and devices'.
