J&E STEVENS CO KEY LOCK SAFE NO 47

This is an antique cast iron "Jewel Safe" with it's grill, lock & key. 

It measures 5 3/4" x 3 1/4" x 3 7/8".

This bank is listed as #315 in the "Iron Safe Banks" book and is also in the "Penny Bank Book" on page 42. Manufactured by "J&E Stevens", 1907.

This bank is rated as a "C" bank (Difficult to find) 

The locking mechanism is shown in the locked position, the unlocked position, and the position that makes me think a spring has sprung sometime in the past 117 years. I am showing that it can be used, but I don't advise locking it closed. The key is original also.

This is the full history; My Grandfather bought this and I inherited it in 1964.
