half of the world
ā all lands and waters north of the
Equator.
- It is drawn on an Azimuthal Equidistant Projection and
names
North Pole
explorers Peary, Byrd, Amundsen, Ellsworth, and Otto Schmidt, a Russian
scientist who may have been the first to actually set foot at the Pole
in 1937, after having set up a scientific observation station.
- The map opens to 61 x 55 cm [24" x 22"] and is drawn on a
scale of
1:40,000,000, or about 632 miles to one inch.
- It was published by the
National Geographic Society as a supplement to the February 1946
edition of National Geographic Magazine.
- Condition: This map is in very good condition,
bright and clean, with no marks, rips,
or tears. It
