PREVENTION

To avoid discoloration and cracking of these plant-based materials, follow these steps. Never submerge bamboo.

CLEAN IT

Use weekly or monthly soaking treatments to sanitize and remove excess buildup. Although bamboo possesses natural antibacterial properties, prolonged submersion can soften plant materials. We recommend soaking in cold water for 15 minutes in a natural vinegar or soap bath.

RINSE IT

Thoroughly hand rinse after each use.

DRY IT

Air dry immediately. Submerging bamboo initiates the decomposition process, allowing water to infiltrate between the stalks of the grass. Note that bamboo is a grass, not wood, which explains why cracking and discoloration are more common with these materials.
