Dennis M. Spragg tells the story of musical legend Glenn Miller and his military career as commanding officer of the Army Air Force Band during World War II. With unprecedented access to family archives as well as military and government documents, Spragg resolves the long-standing mystery of Miller's disappearance and affirms the legacy of his life, career, and service.

This is about one of the most famous big band groups in the WW II era.  The group became famous around 1938.  Soon after WW II began his band joined the Army Air Corp (AAC) in 1942.  they took a $20,000 a week pay cut to do the same job in the military for army pay.    They toured around the England performing for American servicemen.  Months after D-Day the band decided to move from England to Paris and from there could keep entertaining troops on the continent.  On December 15, 1944 Glenn Miller was on a transport headed to France in bad weather as part of the move.  The aircraft was flying over the English Channel and was never seen again.   No wreckage or bodies were discovered.
