Graflex 5x7 inch Bag Magazine. Four are available. 225.00 price is for the one shown. These are from my personal collection, having used them for many years photographing throughout the US and Europe. They superior to conventional film holders, as they are lighter, more compact, and more likely to be dust-free.

All are in working condition. The leather bag ais supple and light tight. The septums are straight and slide freely. The advance levers are smooth.

The “Bag Mags” were designed to lock on to the Folmer Graflex view camera back. The bag mags could not be used with a tradition 4x5 inch view camera back, but with a Graflex back, which required that the glass be removed, and the magazine be inserted.

This was done by popping out the ground glass portion and locking on the film magazine. Usually, they had 12 septums to hold sheet film. After exposure, the front septum was pulled into that attached leather bag and moved to the rear, making the front septum ready for another exposure. Since all maneuvers were done in a sealed atmosphere, the film was protected from rain and dust. They were popular throughout the beginning of the 20th century.

I learned about them from the great landscape photographer, Philip Hyde, and used them exclusively for my 5x7 inch work before going to ultra-large format.
