Hardcover bound in black cloth with gilt titles stamped to front and spine. Corners, joints, and edges are rubbed, most pronounced at top corners, which are beginning to fray. Top blue-painted edge of text block is fading, edge is age-toned all around, and bottom edge has a dark smudge at the corner. Boards show scuffs, scratches, and fading, yet remain sound. Spine is straight and smooth.

Interior is very clean. Cracked hinge in front at the half-title page, and at the back between page 628 and the rear flyleaf, a common defect in this edition, though elsewhere binding remains tight. Rear endpaper shows some smudging and two marks from removal of adhesive, such as stickers, or glue. Otherwise no markings, stains, tears, foxing, or wrinkles.
