“The Green Hornet” aired on ABC from 1966-1967 and featured Van Williams as Britt Reid, a media mogul who owned a newspaper and fought crime at night with his sidekick Kato, played by famed martial artist Bruce Lee. First serialized on the radio in 1936, the character was featured in his own television series that ran for a total of 26 episodes and garnered cult status after Lee’s emergence as a martial arts movie star. Presented here is a The Green Hornet Stardust: The New ‘Touch of Velvet’ paint by numbers playset manufactured by Hasbro and released to the public in 1966. The toy comes in its original sealed 11 x 15-inch box. “STARDUST” is labeled at the top of the box in yellow. “THE NEW ‘Touch of Velvet Art” and “BY NUMBERS” appear on the midsection of the box in black and red lettering. An illustrated image of the Green Hornet and Kato and their custom Imperial car dubbed “Black Beauty” adorns the front of the box. “Create 2 Luxurious ‘Touch of Velvet’ pictures is labeled on the bottom front of the box. All four sides of the box are labeled “STARDUST THE NEW ‘Touch of Velvet Art’ BY NUMBERS The GREEN HORNET” and feature the Hasbro logo of a young child.
