A VERY PRETTY 3rd WATERMARK 6d BLUE KANGAROO VARIETY: “WATERMARK INVERTED” WITH "SOCKED-ON-THE-NOSE" "BRINKWORTH SA 6 OCT 1917" CDS POSTMARK - 2021 ACSC19a CV$275 - LOVELY CDS POSTMARK - LOVELY PALE BRIGHT BLUE SHADE - VERY MINOR FAULT AT TOP RIGHT PERFORATION 
The 3rd Watermark Die II 6d Blue Kangaroo was printed by J.B. COOKE in November 1915 and in May 1917. From May 1918 they were printed by T.S. HARRISON through to 1921. The earliest known date-of-use is 15 December 1915. They were printed off two Plates (an Upper Plate 1 and a Lower Plate 2) each with 120 Stamps-on in Panes of 60 each in 10 rows of 6. These marsupials were used as the 'intrastate parcel rate' of the time. Overall, and through nine printings from the Cooke Plates between November 1915 and October 1920, there were 33,866,400 Die II Blues printed. THE AUSTRALIAN COMMONWEALTH SPECIALISTS' CATALOGUE "KANGAROOS" (2021) lists this 'upside-down' condition as:

This one is nicely centered with terrific SA Postmark and just the smallest tear in one perforation (please see back-scan). A scarce COOKE marsupial.
