Stunning and rare, 1912 Davis vertical feed treadle sewing machine head, made in the US by the Davis sewing machine company.

Davis was a major Sewing machine manufacturer in the late 1800s to early 1900s and produced amazing very high quality sewing machines.

This vertical feed Davis machine is a very good example of this quality.

Everything on this machine is amazingly well made. We tested everything,  bobbin winder, tensioner, and vertical feed mechanism and sewed the stitches you see in my photo.

The vertical feed mechanism is very interesting as this machine doesn't use feed dogs to move the material, instead the presser foot moves back and forward to move the cloth. You can adjust stitch length by turning a small lever on the side.

Condition is fabulous, all the very ornate decals are intact, all the metal parts, cover plates, handwheel, bobbin winder, levers and screws, are in amazingly beautiful condition. Black paint is intact and shiny and just shows some glazing on the bed.

Comes complete and ready to sew, has the original bullet shuttle and bobbin, needle is the correct length, and has most of the original attachments. This machine, also bears the original Davis manufacturing Co label on the inside of the arm.

What a beautiful piece of history!
