This exquisite piece of historical memorabilia was produced by Thomas Sharpus & Co., London, and is from a set of fine china manufactured for the coronation banquet of King William IV of Great Britain and Ireland, who reigned 1830-1837.  He was a son of George III, brother of George IV, and uncle of his successor, Queen Victoria.

This plate is from the estate of Idris Traylor, Jr., PhD, who recently moved to a retirement home.  I acquired a few treasures from his estate sale.  This plate measures 10.25" wide and has very heavy wear, not only to the blue and gold paint, but to the crown located in its center.  It has plenty of utensil marks, but they are faint.  Not a chip or crack to the plate - just the heavy wear.

Dr. Traylor had a distinguished career spanning nearly 40 years.  He was a professor of Russian and East European History and held the title of Executive Director of the Office of International Affairs at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.  He has traveled to nearly 80 countries on five continents and has met with dignitaries all over the world, as well as hosting many in his elaborate home.  His collections of artifacts and souvenirs was nothing short of monumental.  Fortunately, he was able to keep his favorites, after having sent many items to an auction house in Missouri last November, and leaving others for the estate sale held here recently.  Much information is available on Dr. Traylor if you do a search.

Other eBay auctions I am posting include fine china pieces.  It is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for you to acquire something so rare and important.  Auctions include: a dinner plate from a service originally made for composer Rimsky-Korsakov; a serving bowl, dinner plate and B&B plate made for the French King Louis Philippe; a dinner plate and serving bowl made for the French Emperor Napoleon III and Empress Eugenie; a pair of commemorative plates made by order of the French government to honor the 1896 state visit to Paris of the Emperor and Empress of Russia, Nicholas II and Alexandra; a pair of plates reproduced for Hillwood, the Marjorie Merriweather Post estate in Washington, D.C.; and a small plate commemorating the jubilee of Queen Victoria of Great Britain.

You may find these by clicking "Seller's Other Auctions" above, or by searching "Traylor Estate" in eBay's search bar.  For safety and insurance reasons, each auction will ship individually, in lieu of my usual offer to combine shipping.  Fragile items will be either double or triple boxed; I have decades of experience.  In order to quote accurate shipping, each auction will already be boxed up and ready to ship immediately.

Thank you - Eddie
