Item Description: This is a vintage Chinese dao, a type of singled edged saber that was heavily used during the Boxer Rebellion of 1899-1901. The sword and the mountings are in Excellent condition. The sword is large, heavy, and overall 39 inches (99cm) long with a blade length of 29 inches (74cm). The sword shows fuller grooves on both sides. The hilt is comprised of wood lacquered black with iron furniture. The scabbard is also wood lacquered black with an iron endcap and other iron parts along its length. The scabbard shows some small areas of cracking and missing finish, and retains 94-96% original finish. The blade shows no nicks. It also shows some scratches and scattered small spots of rust along its length.

This sword is being sold on consignment. It is a Qing style sabre but the period is unknown, and being sold as is.
