Here is a volume containing 33 essays on things pertaining to Muslim women. Some deal with history, the status of women, progress, etc. the ones I enjoyed most are about specific culturessuch as Qashqa'i Nomadic Pastoralists in Iran, Women's Subsociety among the Shahsevan Nomads of Iran, Women, Sufism, and DescisionMaking in Moroccan Islam, Women and the neighborhood street in Borj Hammoud, Lebanon...see the table of contents for more! There is some amazing material here on cultures that have all but disappeared (gone into hiding in some cases, been eradicated on others). Excellent book!
