Black Flag: Everything Went Black LP, Vinyl, SST Records, 1982

Everything Went Black is a compilation album by the American hardcore punk band Black Flag. It was released in 1982 through SST Records. The compilation comprises early songs recorded before Henry Rollins became the band's vocalist in 1981, and was initially released without the group's name on its cover, due to their lawsuit with MCA / Unicorn. Instead, the names of the group members were listed on the first release.

Black Flag is an American punk rock band formed in 1976 in Hermosa Beach, California. Initially called Panic, the band was established by Greg Ginn, the guitarist, primary songwriter, and sole continuous member through multiple personnel changes in the band. They are widely considered to be one of the first hardcore punk bands, as well as one of the pioneers of post-hardcore.

This is the original, UK 1982 SST Records release, distributed through Pinnacle.

On Side A, there are crackles in the run to the first drum kicks in. Then there are wee crackles during the opening vocals of track 1, 'Gimme'. After which there are crackles between tracks 1 and 2, then between tracks 3 and 4. With track 5, 'Revenge', there are crackles as the vocalist asks if "are we rolling?", then another crackle as the guitar starts. Between tracks 5 and 6, there are wee crackles as the band exchange comments. And again there between tracks 10 and 11, there are a few wee crackles. Right at the end of the closing chords of track 11, 'Depression', there are two crackles. Finally there are wee crackles between tracks 13 and 14.

Flip it over to Side 2, there are crackles during the run to the spoken intro of 'Ok, we are rolling, you can play'. After which there are crackles during the piano notes. Then after 26 seconds, 'Jealous Again' kicks into gear. Between tracks 4 and track 5, there are slight crackles. With 'No More', track 5 during the one note bass intro, there are slight crackles before and after two loud pops around 21 and 23 seconds. At the end of track 6, there are three crackles during the closing notes of 'Room 13'. Then again with track 7, 'Depression' there are slight crackles during the ending feedback.

There is evidence of foxing and wear on the record sleeve from age and being in storage. With some marks to the front picture sleeve, around the L and A of the band's name (please see photos).
