An antique sun bonnet dating to around 1890s - these were worn by women farm workers to protect from sunburn.  This one was once a rich blue - but has faded in the sunlight to a pale lilac shade.  Made of cotton with quilting around the front edges and pleated panels on the back of the head.  Ties under the chin with cotton ties.
