We offer a scarce and possibly unique sign advertising Blair's Keystone Tablets and School Supplies. The company was founded by J. C. Blair in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania in 1879. Mr. Blair had owned a bookstore but realized the need for a standardized way to offer writing paper to the public. As such, he is recognized as the "father of the writing industry". The company later became Mead products of Alexandria and I believe that they are in business to this day. The sign itself is made from heavy die cut pressed paper and measures 9 1/2" x 11". With the frame is measures 12" x 15". I searched the internet, and I can find no record of this very cool advertising sign. I suppose that it could be a "sole survivor". No, the condition isn't perfect. There are some issues due to age and use (please see photos) but it is still a most interesting vestige of a bygone era. If you are collector of old school memorabilia, books, writing instruments, pens, pencils, education, teaching, etc. then this would be a wonderful go-with for your collection. I have started the auction at a very reasonable price as I'm sure you will agree. Lucky buyer please add $18.75 shipping.
