The tall ship known as the HMS Bounty was the first ship of its size built for a film "from the keel up," using historical source material.

In 1995 Captain Robin Walbridge would take the helm, until the ship was lost at sea.

The HMS Bounty would appear in 2004 SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, as pirate Captain Pinty's ship as seen in the beginning of the movie.

Captain Walbridge’s widow, Claudia McCann, would later describe him as having two great loves, her and the Bounty; he described the ship as “an extension of myself.” Robin would often oversee repairs to his beloved Bounty, and saved any piece of the ship that had to be removed. This amazing artifact was obtained directly from Robins widow.

On the night of Sunday, October 28, 2012. About 9pm the Coast Guards North Carolina field sector office received a distress call. The 180-foot, three-masted ship, the HMS Bounty, had lost power. Captain Robin Walbridge, had set sail from Connecticut in hopes of saving the ship from Hurricane Sandy. Instead, the ship started taking on water, and the crew was forced to abandon ship. 16 people including Captain Walbridge entered the rough Atlantic seas.

Storm conditions had intensified beyond the capabilities of the Coast Guard’s cutters and even its Jayhawk helicopter. The Coast Guard was forced to issued an urgent marine bulletin requesting Samaritan assistance. Only the Torm Rosetta, a 30,000-ton Danish oil tanker, was in hailing range. But it reported back that conditions were too dangerous to respond.
