WWII Navy Seabees Scrapbook - Alaska, Aleutian Islands, Attu - 150+ Photos. This is a great World War II scrapbook from a man that served in the Aleutian Islands as a US Navy Seabee in about 1943-44. There are about 115 photos from his time in Alaska and over 50 more that are more family photos. Some of the highlights of the scrapbook are as follows:
- Photos of everyday life of the seaman in the Aleutians, most of which appear to be on Attu
- Construction activities
- A sign that reads "Dead Japs", presumably where some Japanese are buried
- Mountains and roads
- US Army Air Forces aircraft
- Barracks, post office, and the Blue Fox bar
- Signs for Point Able, Engineer Hill, and Alexai Point Airfield
- Little Falls temporary cemetery for fallen US soldiers
- Japanese cemetery
- Possible Japanese bunkers
- Signatures, addresses, and personal messages from 130 men that served with the owner of the scrapbook
- A typewritten list of over 350 men that served on the islands and their addresses
Overall good condition. Great record of US involvement in the Aleutians in WWII.
