This medal was awarded to a "Kiváló Dolgozó" ("Outstanding Worker")  from the then People's Republic of Hungary. 

The medal is 1 5/8" by 2 5/8" in red, white, and green enamel on brass with plastic red star, with a smaller accompanying pin, all in the original plastic, felt-lined case. The provenance from 1987 indicates the recipient and the person presenting the award. A genuine piece of socialist history.
