An Antique Late Victorian/Edwardian Nightdress Nightie Embroidered Cotton UK 18

A Late Victorian Early Edwardian Antique White Cotton Make Do And Mend Nightdress.

This original handmade white nightdress exemplifies the make do and mend culture of the time with its beautifully sewn patch mend neatley sewn to the front chest, standing proudly next to the beautiful embroidery. From a time when items were reused reloved and not cast aside.

It has beautiful hand made material buttons and button hooks and a lovely embroidered section at the midriff joining the top and skirt together.

There is floral embroidery to the front and to the sleeve edges.

It has what looks to be initials and possibly MS and two numbers possibly 97 (for 1897) to the inner neckline. All most intriguing to its history.
