HALLMARK 1989 CAROUSEL HORSES (4-WITH DISPLAY STAND) KEEPSAKE
ORNAMENTS. Hallmark
ornaments were first produced in 1973. Hallmark has continued to produce Keepsake
ornaments, with approximately 400 different designs in each recent year. There are many various designs for
many different tastes. A group of
four brightly painted carousel horse ornaments were offered one per week,
during a special four-week promotion in 1989. The ornaments can be displayed individually or
on their specially designed carousel stand, available during the same period. The stand, dated “1989”, has a shiny brass
pole festooned with red and green stain ribbons. Each dainty prancing steed is supported by a
brass pole which matches the pole on the carousel stand. The name of every steed appears on its saddle
and also on the bottom of the ornament, along with the caption "1989 (number) in a Collection of Four": "Snow" is white with a golden mane and tail. "Holly" is gray and wears a festive red, gold, and green
saddle. "Star" is
dark brown and has four white stockings, and a white mane and tail. "Ginger" is a handsome palomino with a white mane and tail. Each
horse is approximately 3-3/16" tall. The display stand is approximately 4-5/8"
tall. The stand has a shiny brass pole
festooned with red and green satin ribbons.
The set is in overall very good condition from a pet and smoke-free
home. They come the
original boxes which still have the price tabs. Some of the boxes do have creases.
The box for the display stand did not
have a price tab like the ornaments. They
are Hallmark # 629XPR971-9, 972-2, 972-0, 972-1, and 972-3. These ornaments were treasured and well taken
care of. It is hard to find this
carousel set complete with all the boxes. What a gift for any Hallmark or horse
enthusiast.
