DESCRIPTION: Beautiful Vintage MANUEL ACOSTA - Listed Artist - Dark Smoky Glass Plate / Dish with a Reproduction of a Panel from a Las Cruces, NM, mural that he was commissioned to paint for the First National Bank Building in 1962. I have another glass plate with a different Mural panel listed elsewhere. See the Photos

Las Cruces is famous for its many murals. There was a golden age of new murals around the 60s in Las Cruces. Google "Las Cruces Murals" for more info. There is only one other plate listed that I can find anywhere. All three seem to be by the same maker. There were probably a few more reproductions. However, they were probably a limited run for a short period that went to a mostly local market back in the 60s or 70s. They called them "ashtrays" and I fear that most of them had the artwork ruined from use. That makes any that you can finf in good condition very rare. I was lucky to find these two unused at a local estate sale here in NM. They are probably worth more because Manuel Acosta is a listed artist with good prices on his artwork.
