Ensign flags flags were used on boats, These flags were designed for boats but could be used for whatever intent. This flag States it's an 'American Ensign 12-Foot.'  When a ship sailed into a foreign port it would hoist a national flag of the port.

This flag came from a recently deceased collector in Indiana

Condition Vintage Collectable- There are some stains and some fading  from natural age of the flag. It looks like the flag has been hand sewn repaired in places see pictures. There looks to be an oil circular can stain in the top of the flag see pictures. The flag has some corners that are frayed. All together the flag represents it's age from 1876-1890 and it's use.
