Rare Devil Crystal Glass

Dimensions are approximately:

 capacity: 4cl (1.4oz) (40ml)
diameter base: 5cms (2" ins)
height: 16cms (6 3/8" ins)

This amazing shot glass was designed in 1991 by Gunnar Cyrén for the Nobel Prize banquet in 1996.
The glass is part of the Orrefors Kosta Boda 'Nobel' collection. These Nobel stemware glasses are rare and limited in production.

The hand painted crystal shot glass (designed for schnapps) is a sculptural form in gold and red with gold details.  The first seven 'Snaps Devil' glasses were launched in 1996 consisting of one black male devil and six colorful female devils. The gold one featured here is one of the original colours and is 'female'. Each glass is mouth-blown in Sweden and hand-painted with details in real 22-karat gold with a new variation added annually.

They were then joined by eleven annual glasses between 2008 and 2018. In addition to these, there were a few limited edition pieces created.
There are also matching champagne glasses (Sparkling Devil) with devil motifs produced at a later date.

A great addition to a collection.

A matching blue devil is also available for purchase separately... see last photo.

As the years pass, these lovely collectable items become more precious... pieces are damaged, lost or collections are broken up.  The good news for collectors is that quality pieces should not only hold their value but increase over time.

Additional Info:

Gunnar Cyrén (1931–2013) was one of the leading Swedish designers of the 20th century specialising in glass and metal. He was most known for his glass design for Orrefors. Gunnar’s artistry is represented at the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design.
After Gunnar Cyrén passed away in 2013, numerous sketches were found of a champagne glass inspired by the 'Snaps Devil' glass. The champagne glass, called Sparkling Devil, went into production and is now part of the Orrefor stemware range.
