BUTTONS

 Vintage Dark Green

 Buttons with Unusual Brass-lined Apertures

These distinctive buttons are made in one of the synthetics of the early to mid-20th century.   They are dark green & a blend of 2 barely distinguishable shades which give depth to the colour.  The most unusual feature is the lining of the stitching holes with golden metal, probably brass, creating a highly individual appearance. The buttons have a narrow double rim, subtly raised face & flat back.  They are about 21.5mm (7/8”)  in diameter. The buttons would give a highly original finish to any garment.

The buttons are from an old domestic sewint collection.   There is very slight crazing to the button material (see photos) which suggests celluloid plastics.  They have a solid feel & medium weight & are gently washable.

On receipt, remove the buttons from their protective plastic packaging & store in paper or card containers to avoid deterioration.  Vintage celluloid plastics do not have the stability of their modern counterparts.

Carriage will be combined whenever possible.
