The Sahuaro Ski Club was "formed" in 1944 when radio personality and avid skier Lowell Thomas visited his son at the Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson. Thomas was surprised to see snow on Mt. Lemmon, which led to father and son dragging some friends to "hit the slopes". With some urging, the Forest Service eventually created a small ski area complete with a small ski jump. Today the ski area is called Mount Lemmon Snow Bowl and is the southernmost ski area in the United States.

The skiers had so much fun that they formed the Sahuaro Ski club with William Sears as President, Mrs. Dickson Potter Secretary and Lowell Thomas was elected Assistant to the President and Secretary. Lowell Thomas, Jr. was one of nine Vice Presidents. This poster certifies that Mr. and Mrs. Dickson Potter are hereby elected to membership for life, complete with the signature of Lowell Thomas. Poster was designed by Paul Webb.

A nifty piece of Arizoniana.
