Master HONG YI (1880-1942), also named Li Shutong, was a Renaissance man in modern Chinese cultural history. Equally skilled in music, calligraphy, poetry, painting and drama, he was revered not only as a Buddhist monk, but also for his multiple talents and his work in promoting classical calligraphy.
