Hugo Riemann
Max Hesse, Leipzig, 1900
Fifth edition. Hardback, rebound in plain blue binder's cloth with gilt titling to spine. New endpapers, marbled page edges. 21.5 x 14cm, xxiii + 1284pp, 4pp ads. German text.
First published in 1882, the Riemann Musiklexikon was a huge undertaking by the German musicologist, attempting to a create a complete dictionary of music and musicians. Previous owner's inscription to the half-title reads "Der lieben Clara Bauman, in erinnerung anden deutschen Aufenthalt von K Karpf".
A very good copy. The rebinding has been done to a high standard and the binding is secure. There is some spotted foxing to the pages but the book remains in strong readable condition.
