HOLLYWOOD PROVENANCE!! Vintage Large TWIN BAROQUE PEARL 2 STRAND Collar Necklace
Features: An outstanding mid century (1950s - 60s) big and bold double strand, huge freshwater twin baroque pearl necklace with an ornate 14k yellow gold clasp! This rare show stopping necklace comes from the estate of Joanna Barnes (prominent Hollywood film actress). The pearls are beautiful! They are white with cream, pink, purple, and gold overtones. The twin baroques send a daring message on their own but the size of the pearls is what is really impressive. The pearls range from 15mm to 22mm and are generally graduated. The 14k yellow gold clasp has 6 attachment points to it but only 4 were used when building this necklace. The necklace was always meant to have two strands. The tension clasp is a little loose and I could get it to detach from the housing by pulling on it slightly with the safety off. Luckily, the safety holds firm and a jewelry should be able to tighten the clasp a bit. This necklace is only 14 inches and is made to be worn high up above the collar (very rare for a large pearl necklace like this). The necklace is also very heavy weighing in at 8 ounces or 227 grams! I've never seen a collar necklace like this before.
One thing to consider is that the knots at the clasp are beginning to fray a little. This is a really heavy pearl necklace. I would recommend having the necklace restrung in the next 5 years.
Provenance: Estate of Joanna Barnes (Santa Barbara, California). Ms. Barnes was a Hollywood film actress featured in movies such as "Auntie Mame (1958)", "Tarzan, the Ape Man (1959)", "Spartacus (1960)", "The Parent Trap (1961)" and "The War Wagon (1967)". She appeared on many hit shows such as "Hawaii Five-O", "Maverick", "The Beverly Hillbillies", "Cheers", and "The Untouchables".
This high fashion freshwater pearl necklace is shipped in a presentation box or bag with the invoice from the original estate auction as well as a signed Letter of Provenance from me describing the necklace and the chain of custody.
