Lipo
packs usually have very short balance plug leads (to reduce weight).
That can make it difficult to connect Battery and Charger.
With an extension it is often much easier to connect battery and charger.
Taking
the battery out of the model can be time-consuming as well. With an
extension I can often leave the battery inside the model when charging.
